Madeleine White is an Australian/American writer and director based in Los Angeles.
Raised between coastal Australia and Los Angeles, her work examines the emotional volatility that often hides beneath seemingly familiar surfaces. Her films often center young women navigating grief, desire, shame, identity, and the complicated inheritances passed between families, lovers, and generations.
Interested in the tension between performance and intimacy, she creates deeply character-driven stories that explore the ways people construct versions of themselves in order to be loved, protected, or understood.
Her short films have screened internationally, most recently winning Best Narrative Short at the Academy Award–qualifying Heartland Film Festival. She is currently developing multiple feature films and a limited series.
